about

Arguably their gayest song (in the happy sense), Ryan and Melissa sing a little call and response about better days. I personally don't see what THEY see in the 50's. I wasn't even alive then. Maybe if I had a time traveling Delorean, I could appreciate a malt shake, the way Ryan does lyrically. Then again, I shouldn't mess with the space-time continuum. What am I talking about? Oh, right. This song is the gayest. Arguably. Because of the glockenspiel, probably.

lyrics

Sha la la la la la la la la la la la di da ah ah

Skipping to the old malt shop together hand in hand
Later there's a sock hop and they've got a rockin' band
Hey pal could you give me two straws in that chocolate coke?
We could do the jitterbug or sit and share a joke

Were there ever really days like these?
Records still sound better than CD's

And we sing

Sha la la la la la la la la la la la di da
Sha la la la la la la la la la la la di da ah ah

I will pin my best gal at the dance on Friday night
We could do the twist, the mashed potato, out of sight!
And you sure look great in that poodle skirt, I think you're swell
I like you, you do the swim and hand jive really well

Black and white was better on TV
I once loved a girl, she once loved me

And we sing

Sha la la la la la la la la la la la di da
Sha la la la la la la la la la la la di da ah ah

Things were so much better long ago
We were not alive then, we should know

And we sing

Sha la la la la la la la la la la la di da
Sha la la la la la la la la la la la di da
Sha la la la la la la la la la la la di da
Sha la la la la la la la la la la la di da ah ah
